Loaded American house wife Mary Morgan takes her son George out of school to get home education,for example a vacation to Southern Africa. Whilst in Mozambique George is bitten by a mosquito which crawls through a pit into his net and also dies of malaria. After his funeral at home Mary feels a compulsion to go back to Africa where she matches British girl Martha O'Connell,whose 2-4 year-old son Ben, a teacher having voluntary service overseas,has died of malaria. Ben gave his net believing adults cannot grab malaria. The two women are astonished to observe the death rate caused by the illness and,whilst Martha stays in Africa Mary petitions the government to modify things. Martha ends up in Mary's house unannounced and, helped by the ex-diplomat daddy of Mary,they also address a senate committee on health spending. Though a coda states that much more can be done, they meet with a few success.
